Vcenter Server Installation

How to Install and configure vCenter server

VCenter server is the management tool which we will use to manage our esxi server.
This vCenter server will be installed on a windows 2008 R2 Server machine.Make sure that this windows 2008 server is not your domain controller as you will not be able to install it on a domain controller.

Download windows 2008 R2 server from http://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=11093 and vcenter server iso from https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/details/vc50/dHRAYnQldEBiZHBqcA==

   Install Windows 2008 R2 on a new virtual machine on your VMware workstation.Once win2k8       
   Server is ready,Connect the Vcenter server iso to your 2k8 R2 server and run the autorun file                   


    Before you click to install vcenter server, make sure you have prerequisites installed

    Once ready, highlight  'vCenter server' link and click install.Select language and                                   Next>>Next>>Accept the license and click Next again
  
     Enter user details and license information

    Install Microsoft Sql server as default database


    Choose a user name and password for Vcenter server or choose "|Use SYSTEM Account"
    to use default logged in local or Domain windows user>>Next>>Next again


Choose a vcenter server instance type as per your requirement.Here we will create a stand alone  instance

Leave the ports as it is and Next


 >>Next>>choose inventory size >>Next>>Install



Vcenter will install successfully and is ready to use.


As the hypervisor and Vcenter server both has been installed, Now we will continue with next step of configuring a private cloud i.e Vsphere client installation
